Stroke
Stroke is a disorder in which the
arteries of the brain become blocked or ruptured,
resulting in death of the brain tissue.
Interventional Neuro Radiology is
a department dedicated to the prevention and recovery
of strokes. Using a machine that has biplane rotational
angio facilities, clots can be stopped from embolizing
(or travelling) and giant aneurysms can be treated.
Thrombolysis is the dissolution of a thrombus or clot
by injection of Urokinase directly into thrombus,
in the specific artery. Angioplasty and stenting is
also being done to prevent strokes.
The Biofeedback Centers in India
are well known for its delivery of Biofeedback therapy
for stroke and other non progressive CNS (central
nervous system) patients, aiding them in recovering
from their disabilities. This technique involves the
placing of surface electrodes over the paralyzed or
weak muscles and collecting the dull signals from
the brain and spine. These signals are then amplified
and shown on computer to the patient so that they
can learn what to do to make signals stronger. Through
trial and error learning, the patient is able to make
new pathways in the brain and spinal cord creating
permanent positive changes in their functioning ability.
These changes are reinforced with exercises and activities.
- CP (Cerebral Palsy), SCI (Spinal Cord Injury)
and other head trauma also respond to this therapy.
